
Paz Zarate
Paz Zarate will be participating as a panellist in the session on Migration & Political stability and will present on the UN migration compact in the context of Latin America. She is a Chilean legal practitioner who specialises in Public International Law. She is based in the UK, where she pursued her postgraduate studies (masters at Cambridge, doctorate at Oxford). Her first degree in law is from University of Chile. Her area of expertise is International Dispute Settlement.
Paz has an extensive legal practice in litigation before international courts, including several cases before the International Court of Justice and other international investment tribunals, many of them involving Latin American countries, both as counsel & also as secretary. She is also an experienced adviser to both States and multinationals in non-contentious matters concerning treaty interpretation, boundary delimitation, exploitation of trans-boundary resources, investment protection and international human rights. She has also taught law at various Universities, and is expert commentator in international legal affairs for leading media outlets, including the CNN London Bureau.
