Luis Vargas Faulbaum

Luis Vargas graduated as a Sociologist (2009) from the University of Chile, has an MA in Public Policy (2013) at King's College London and is a current PhD candidate (2019 expected) in International Development at the University of Oxford.

He worked for four years in the Social Development Division at the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) of the United Nations, in Santiago. Previously, he was an intern at UNRISD and consultant for different international organisations. During this time, he developed research on non-contributory social protection, such as social assistance (CCTs), social pensions, disaster risk management, among other social policies within Latin America.

Nowadays, Luis Vargas is completing my PhD dissertation which is a comparative study of the political economy of pension reforms in Chile and Brazil. He will be moderating the session on Migration and Political Stability at the 2019 Forum.
